Minnesota Youth Archery Program Grows With Lancaster Archery Foundation’s Help
A Minnesota youth archery program has nearly doubled over the past year, since receiving a grant from the Lancaster Archery Foundation.
The Lighthouse Christian Academy in Grand Rapids, Minn., received $975 last year from the foundation to buy new 3-D targets and some archery equipment.
Coach Corie Westlake said the school’s archery program has grown from 48 to 71 participants in grades 3-12 over the past year.
The program’s middle school team this year took first place in both Bullseye and 3D at the regional NASP tournament, and placed seventh in Bullseye and sixth in 3D at the Minnesota state tournament.
With the new targets and equipment Lighthouse Christian acquired using the Lancaster Archery Academy grant, the program has been able “to better accommodate growth, improve the flow of practices, and provide a safer and more structured experience for our archers,” Westlake said.
“We have seen meaningful growth in both skill development and confidence across all age groups.
“We are truly grateful for your support. This grant has made a lasting impact on our program and on each of our students.
“We are excited to continue building and expanding opportunities for our archers in the seasons ahead.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
