Texas High School Finishes Strong at State Tournament
Practicing on targets acquired through a grant from Lancaster Archery Foundation, archers from a Texas high school recently achieved a top-ten finish in a statewide tournament.
LASA High School in Austin, Texas, finished eighth at the 2025 Texas State NASP/IBO 3D Challenge.
Students who compete for the school practice at Central Texas Archery, which was the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Lancaster Archery Foundation.
Central Texas Archery is a club that offers several programs aimed at introducing people of all ages – but especially kids – to the sport of archery.
“Progress in archery is progress in life,” said Rob Kaufhold, president of the foundation’s board of directors. “It’s great to see a grant from our foundation being used to help these kids progress their archery skills.”
With the Lancaster Archery Foundation grant, Central Texas Archery was able to acquire 12 3-D targets exactly like the ones used in the NASP/IBO competitions.
Club leaders noted that several local schools already had NASP bull’s-eye teams, but not all had 3D teams. A goal of the club expressed to Lancaster Archery Foundation in the club’s grant application was to establish more 3D teams.
The students from the LASA High School archery team – and from four other local schools - practice on the Central Texas Archery 3D targets as they prepare for tournaments like the Texas State NASP/IBO Challenge.
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
